Tuesday

Dearest Sarah,
My every thought is of my darling boy.
Saturday brought me a less favourable account extending to the 3rd of November.  I telegraphed off my own thanks to Capt. Campbell on Saturday – but to this moment I have had no reply.
This morning I have a letter from Capt. Campbell himself.  6 Nov no improvement.  Still I think it an improved account.  Now typhoid.  The darling has pencilled a few lines (invaluable to me) says he was never very ill but in much health and asks for his large desk to be sent out.
Capt. C says our letters have arrived and the dear boy has read and enjoyed them also looked at one or two news papers.  This to me looks well.
I have hope – but I am fearfully anxious he shall leave me soon, I have not told the worst to my [-] [barely legible entry]
Much love fm
